Gujarat’s new Heritage Tourism policy discusses hotel conversion

Vijay Rupani, CM – Gujarat has announced the Heritage Tourism Policy 2020-2025. According to the policy, historical monuments, palaces, forts constructed before 1950, could be converted into hotels, heritage museums, heritage banquet halls and restaurants provided that ‘basic heritage’ structure is not altered or damaged. Under this policy, the state government will provide financial assistance for setting up a new heritage hotel or existing one, for rupees five to ten crore dedicated for renovation or expansion.

Similarly, an aid of ₹45 lakh to one crore is also available for heritage museums, heritage banquet halls and restaurants. In addition, the government has also revised its Home Stay Policy. This policy will help owners to convert their houses into tourist facilities (accommodation option).
