The Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department has introduced a new portal for star hotel classification, aiming to enhance the tourism and hospitality sector within the state. The updated system will categorise hotels and resorts in Uttar Pradesh into five classifications: platinum, diamond, gold, silver and bronze. UP’s Minister of Tourism and Culture, Jaiveer Singh, has stated that the categorisation of hotels and resorts will be determined by evaluating their quality, services, overall facilities, and the guest experience. “The advantages of the updated classification system are manifold, as hotels acknowledged under this system will qualify for a range of incentives. They will also be eligible for subsidies and tax benefits in accordance with industry standards,” Singh explained.
