IHCL to build palace into 5-star hotel in Tripura

Tripura government signed an agreement with IHCL, assigning the former to transform the Pushpabanta Palace in Agartala into a five-star heritage hotel. As per the deal, 7.78 acres of land, including the palace has been handed over to IHCL for 60 years, and it may be extended for another 30 years. Manik Saha, Chief Minister of Tripura shared, “Today is a big day for Tripura as we have signed an agreement with IHCL to develop Pushbabanta Palace as a heritage hotel. This is the first time that IHCL has inked an agreement with any government directly in Eastern India and not just the northeastern region.”

Puneet Chhatwal, Managing Director & CEO, IHCL, said, “Taj, for over a century, has been the custodian of India’s heritage and culture, having restored some of the country’s most celebrated palaces. The heritage Taj Pushpabanta Palace will be refurbished to its former glory in keeping with Taj’s iconic legacy. We are delighted to partner with the Tripura Government for Taj Pushpabanta Palace.”
