Marriott International is set to open its first 128-room hotel in India, owned by Prestige Group, two years after introducing its hotel brand Moxy. Marriott’s vice president for South Asia, Ranju Alex, has announced plans to open three more mid-market, economy lifestyle hotels in India. The company is confident that the brand will succeed in India due to the country’s large young demographic and travel pace. The segmentation will focus on big cities, where travelers go most. Marriott currently operates 148 hotels in India, with eight operational since April last year. It plans to launch 15 more properties by the end of 2024.
