Vinesh Gupta, General Manager, The Den Hotel, Bengaluru, talks at length about on the hotel’s performance since its inception.
Can you tell us about the accomplishments that have been achieved since the inception of the hotel?
We have successfully brought the Dan Hotels legacy in India and establishing The Den as a millennial luxury brand, creating a buzz from the first year of operation and earning a strong hold in over-crowded established brands
Plans for opening another Den, if any?
We are certainly looking at expanding at potential markets in Tier 1 & Tier 2 Cities. Right now, our focus is on The Den Bengaluru and we don’t want to leave any stone unturned to position the brand in the right perspective. India is definitely our focus for expansion, and it totally depends on the current economic scenario in the short and long term.
Ways to combat challenges and competition?
To stand out, you need to innovate, imbibe new technologies, implement strategic decisions and humanization the guest experiences. We believe in being tech-savvy, not tech-servile hotel. Instead of thinking of a comfortable bed and tasty food – that every hotel provides, our thoughts range from what should you do after hours; how to increase the engagement using technology and personalization.
We have to start looking at alternative ways of revenue generation. Now the focus on F&B as revenue and profitability stream is even greater where we are looking at 50% revenues from F&B, contributing departmental GOP of 42 – 48% coming out of this.
