Reverse 5% VAT hike on liquor: HRAWI

HRAWI has urged the Maharashtra state government to reconsider the 5 per cent increase in VAT on liquor served at bars and restaurants. The association claims the hike will negatively impact the hospitality industry, particularly restaurants and bars, and the tourism sector. HRAWI has argued that lower prices will boost state revenues and attract domestic travellers, while higher prices may lead to business declines and illegal activities. The association has urged the government to consider the long-term consequences of such decisions.
