Realm Hospitality is the first hotel management company established in Bhutan and has opened its second hotel, The Pema by Realm, in Thimphu. The Pema by Realm is a boutique hotel with 27 rooms, of which fourteen are suites. The hotel is designed to reflect a balance of traditional décor and contemporary design, a fitting tribute to the Bhutan of today. The top floor is designated as the Heritage Floor with Bhutanese art and motifs on the walls and traditional touches to the rooms. The suites are fully equipped with a kitchenette, dining table, living room and all modern conveniences. All rooms afford stunning views of Thimphu valley. The Pema by Realm aims to be the foodies’ destination of choice in Thimphu with two restaurants and a bar. Zhego is the all-day dining restaurant serving artisanal breakfast and international fare at lunch and dinner. The restaurant also offers a mezzanine lounge, private dining room and a show kitchen with a Chef’s Table. M Bistro is the street-front café that is as much a favourite of local residents as tourists, serving fresh baked goodies, snacks and beverages. The Roof, Bhutan’s first open rooftop bar, serves artisanal cocktails and a tapas-style food menu along with 360-degree views of the mountains. The hotel also caters to meetings and events for up to 150 guests both within and outside its premises.
Zhiwa Spa features two treatment rooms, a fully equipped fitness centre and steam and sauna facilities. Treatments include the classic Swedish and Aromatherapy massages, body wraps and scrubs using local ingredients.
“The Pema is in tune with the needs of today’s evolved traveller, both physically and spiritually. The luxury is realistic, not ostentatious. The service is personal, not subservient. And the overall experience is genuine, not contrived. The well-informed traveller of today seeks to make authentic connections with a destination and its people, and we strive to facilitate that.” said Sid Savkur, CEO, Realm Hospitality.
