In 2015, it was officially certified as a five-star hotel, setting the stage for an inspiring journey of growth and achievement.
Its record-breaking feats include lighting 1,500 oil lamps in a single venue in 2016 in association with Lulu Mall Kochi (a Guinness World Record) and constructing a towering 21-foot edible gingerbread structure in 2018 (recognised by the India Book of Records).
In August 2018, Kerala saw devastation like never before. Kochi Marriott, too, took a hit. But within 13 days, they reopened. 1 September, 2018, was not just another day. It was a testament to resilience, a marker of strength in the face of adversity. They took care of their staff, their families, their guests. Under the leadership of Sachin Malhotra, General Manager, Kochi Marriott recently achieved a ₹100 crore milestone in revenue. Even during the challenging COVID-19 years, the hotel retained its entire staff, prioritising their well-being and ensuring continuity in service—a testament to its people-first approach. Malhotra credits the loyalty programme, Marriott Bonvoy, for bringing guests back. But there is more to it. Guests return for the warmth, the care, the feeling of being at home in a hotel that does not forget what it stands for. “Hospitality is all about creating unforgettable experiences. The city’s blend of tradition and modernity offers a unique backdrop for warm hospitality,” said Malhotra.

From installing mobile-enabled room locks to upgrading guest rooms with 55-inch smart TVs, the hotel blends modernity with comfort. Enhanced spaces like Solitaire, the 10,000-square-foot banquet hall introduced in 2015, and an expanded Kochi Kitchen restaurant in 2017 ensure that every guest experience is elevated.
Commitment to sustainability
Sustainability is at the heart of Kochi Marriott’s operations. The transition from diesel to natural gas for boiler fuel in 2021 marked a significant step towards reducing the hotel’s carbon footprint. An in-house water bottling plant and the adoption of green power further underscore its dedication to eco-friendly practices.
One standout initiative, “Re Threads,” exemplifies the hotel’s innovative approach to sustainability. In collaboration with Rajagiri and Kochi Metro Rail, this project upcycles fabrics into new garments under three categories—Care Line, Share Line, and Shape Line. These eco-friendly creations are sold at Kochi Metro stations, empowering communities while promoting responsible consumption.
