In view of environmental concerns, the Himachal Pradesh prohibits the use of PET bottles, up to 500 ml, in official meetings, conferences, and events organised by the government departments, boards, corporations, and other State government organisations. This also applies to the state’s tourism development corporation hotels and private hotels. These entities must adopt sustainable alternatives. The State has also authorised officials from different departments to compound offences in respect of the prohibited items.
