After the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) granted permission to for B2B exhibitions as part of the Unlock 5, India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Commerce & Industry which operates India’s largest exhibition space at Pragati Maidan, Delhi, has announced the date for one of its own premier international food and hospitality exhibition, AAHAR. The 36th annual edition of AAHAR 2021 will be held between March 9 and 11, 2021.
According to an official release by ITPO, the exhibition will be organised in accordance with the Covid-19 SOPs specified by the Department of Commerce, Government of India. The Expo will be held in Halls 7 to 12 along with A3 to A5 of the newly built halls of the world class International Exhibition cum Convention Centre (IECC), ITPO said.
A high-level review meeting of the IECC project early this month had expressed satisfaction in the progress of the project after a short lull due to pandemic early this year. Most of the buildings are likely to be completed by March 2021. The handing over of the buildings is likely to begin soon in a phased manner, and the complete project is likely to be handed over by October, 2021.
The site will have 6 underpasses and a main tunnel for smooth movement of traffic in the region. The AC system shall be Covid-19 pliant, there will be adequate availability of power, the buildings will be leak-proof and the drainage system will ensure no waterlogging under any circumstance.
The redevelopment of Pragati Maidan as a modern, up-to- date centre for holding global conferences and exhibitions , will include creation of a modern Convention Center with seating capacity of 7,000 persons. India is expected to host the G-20 Summit in 2022, and this IECC will be the main venue for the same.
