HRANI Elects Surendra Kumar Jaiswal as New President

HRANI Concluded its 73rd AGM and Elected New Leadership Team for 2024-26 Term

The Hotel and Restaurant Association of Northern India (HRANI) successfully concluded its 73rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) for the financial year 2023-24, followed by the election of office bearers for the 2024-26 term. The event, held at Radisson Blu Plaza Delhi Airport, New Delhi, featured the election of new office bearers and a networking lunch that provided members with an opportunity to strengthen professional relationships.

The AGM commenced with an inspiring keynote address by Garish Oberoi, the outgoing President of HRANI, who praised the tireless efforts of HRANI members, highlighting key milestones such as the success of the 3rd HRANI Convention and the association’s achievements in advocacy for the hospitality sector.

After being elected as the new President of HRANI, Surendra Kumar Jaiswal outlined his vision for the future of the hospitality sector through seven key issues of the industry:

  1. Grant of Infrastructure Status
  2. Rationalisation of GST
  3. Resolving the issues related to Copyright Societies
  4. Re-categorisation of hotels from Red to Orange/White category in collaboration with Ministry of Environment and Forest
  5. Introducing the new hotel classification system modeled after Uttar Pradesh’s initiative across other states
  6. Launching of a HRANI-exclusive booking engine, providing members a cost-effective platform without service charges
  7. Establishing a grievance redressal forum to address member concerns and operational challenges efficiently

In addition to his new role at HRANI, Jaiswal also leads the Uttar Pradesh Hotel & Restaurant Association (UPHRA) as the President and Vice President of the Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Association of India (FHRAI).

During the event, Ramesh Kapur, Chairman, Managing Director, Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel, was posthumously honoured for his exemplary contributions to the industry. Additionally, Rakesh Sethi, Corporate Executive Chef, Operations, South Asia, Radisson Hotel Group, was recognised with the Award of Honor for his outstanding contributions to the culinary arts and the hospitality industry.

With its newly elected leadership, HRANI remains committed to advocating for the industry’s interests, supporting its members, and shaping the future of hospitality in the region.
