Marriott International has appointed two new global development officers to lead the group’s growth across the key destinations and regions. Carlton Ervin as Global development officer, International and Noah Silverman as Global Development Officer, US and Canada.
The two new development bosses have joined the team just a few weeks after Anthony Capuano was named the group’s CEO and Stephanie Linnartz was named president. The group has been continuing to rebuild and grow its leadership team since the passing of Arne M. Sorenson earlier this year.
Like many leaders at Marriott, Ervin has been with the group for most of his professional life, having joined 21 years ago. Prior to his promotion he was the chief development officer across EMEA, where he was responsible for leading development efforts across all brands in that region.
Throughout his time in the group he has played a “pivotal role,” said Marriott, in the development of the Moxy brand in Europe as well as the integration of Starwood Hotels and Resorts. Ervin first joined Marriott in its legal department.
Silverman, meanwhile, is a 24-year veteran of the company, previously serving as the chief development officer for US and Canada in the full service hotels segment. In this role he was responsible for the group’s suite of luxury and premium brands.
Silverman too has been described as a driving force behind the Starwood acquisition, as well as the growth of Delta by Marriott Hotels and Gaylord Hotels brands. Silverman has held a number of leadership roles in asset management and finance, including senior vice president, global asset management from 2010 to 2011; senior vice president, development asset management, from 2008 to 2010; and senior vice president, project finance, from 2006 to 2008.
He also has a background in law, graduating from the University of Pennsylvania Law School.
“Noah and Carlton have been instrumental in driving Marriott’s rooms growth and incredibly strong development pipeline. Their proven track record positions them well to lead Global Development as we move forward,” said Linnartz. “Their combined experience, strategic vision and relationships with the owner and franchisee communities around the world will help to advance the company’s growth strategy, including expansion into new and underserved markets.”
