FHRAI writes to the PM, seeking his kind intervention for expeditious notification of Rs. 60,000 Crore Loan Guarantee Scheme for COVID-hit sectors. The submission highlights the disruptive impact of Covid-19 on the hospitality industry in India as it was the first one to fall and is going to be the last to recover and it will take many years for the sector to come out of the impact of the biggest crisis it has ever faced. “The tourism and hospitality sector in the country, being the biggest casualty of the Covid pandemic is deeply disappointed on the fact that despite passage of 75 days since the announcement, neither the scheme has been notified by the Finance Ministry nor the Operational Guidelines nor other details of the scheme have been announced. On the contrary, the Loan Guarantee Scheme introduced simultaneously for the Health Sector has been notified and necessary guidelines have been introduced by NCGTC,” wrote Gurbaxish Singh Kohli, Vice President, FHRAI.
