India’s hospitality sector is on a strong growth path, backed by 6–8% economic expansion and rising domestic travel demand, but needs policy support to sustain momentum, said Ajay K. Bakaya, Chairman of Sarovar Hotels and Director, Louvre Hotels India. He said the upcoming Union Budget offers a crucial opportunity to address supply constraints caused by long hotel development cycles. Bakaya called for infrastructure status for hotels, GST rationalisation—especially on food and beverage—and continued investment in tourism and aviation infrastructure to spur growth across Tier II and III cities and support long-term, sustainable industry expansion.
